But bringing it back to the Atlas-below, we'll give you the lowdown on what you can expect from all the trims, and what makes each one special.

What kind of car is the 2024 Volkswagen Atlas?

The 2024 Atlas is a mid-size SUV. For a frame of reference, you can compare it to a Toyota Highlander, a Honda Pilot, a Ford Explorer, or a Kia Telluride. Within the Volkswagen family, it sits above the Taos and Tiguan in terms of size.

What performance can I expect from the 2024 Volkswagen Atlas?

The Atlas has a powerful 2L 4-cylinder turbocharged engine at its heart that generates 269 hp and 273 lb-ft of torque, making it the perfect SUV for the family.

How many trims are available for the 2024 Volkswagen Atlas?

There are 6 trims available on the Atlas:

  1. SE

The Atlas' base trim comes with IQ.DRIVE, Volkswagen's suite of smart driver-assist technologies. You'll also get to enjoy V-Tex leatherette seating surfaces, while the exterior boasts 18-inch alloy wheels with all-season tires.

  1. SE with Technology

The SE with Technology adds some swag to the base trim with 20" alloy wheels, a front grille with an integrated lightbar, and an illuminated emblem on the front and rear. It also brings the cool tech to the party with features like a hands-free Easy Open remote power rear liftgate, a trailer hitch with a 5,000 lb capacity, and a 115v power outlet.

  1. Peak Edition SE with Technology

The Peak Edition is the Atlas' limited-edition trim. It has lower-side cladding on its bumpers and black mirror caps, making it gorgeous to look at. Our favorite feature on the interior is the multi-color adjustable ambient lighting. Think of it as mood lighting for your drive.

  1. SEL

The SEL is the Atlas' comfort trim with a 12-inch digital display on the inside, along with all-leather seating surfaces and some fantastic additional safety features.

  1. Peak Edition SEL

As the name suggests, the Peak Edition SEL is peak Atlas. In addition to all the previous features mentioned in the Peak Edition SE trim, it has a head-up display and a sliding panoramic sunroof.

  1. SEL Premium R-Line

The R-Line is the most exclusive Atlas trim. It comes standard with 21-inch alloy wheels, perforated Vienna leather seating surfaces, a Harman Kardon premium audio system, and special R-Line exterior styling.
