What Volkswagen Announced for the 2027 Jetta
Volkswagen of America announced its full 2027 model year lineup on May 14, 2026 from its Reston, Virginia headquarters. Most of that 2027 lineup release is about the redesigned Atlas and the return of the ID. Buzz. The Jetta section is four sentences long, and it is the part a compact sedan shopper needs.
Volkswagen confirmed the Jetta continues in S, Sport, SE and SEL trims. The Jetta GLI continues in a single Autobahn trim. No Jetta trim was added or dropped.
Volkswagen confirmed the S and Sport gain the Composition Media infotainment system. Composition Media brings satellite radio, voice control, and two more speakers for a total of six. Volkswagen also lists Premium Speech with AI and Premium Radio as available on those two trims.
Volkswagen confirmed the S and Sport now include KESSY keyless access and push button start. Every 2027 Jetta also gets an updated rear seat belt reminder.

One thing the Jetta did not get. Volkswagen's 2027 release also announced upgraded Travel Assist with assisted lane changes and an Emergency Assist that can pull the vehicle to the shoulder. Volkswagen lists those two changes for the Atlas, ID. Buzz, Golf family and Tiguan. The Jetta is not on that list. Do not read those specs onto the 2027 Jetta.
What Composition Media and KESSY Keyless Access Actually Do
Volkswagen names its parts, and the names do not explain themselves. Here is the plain version.
Composition Media is the head unit, not the screen
Composition Media is Volkswagen's name for the infotainment system behind the dashboard, not for the display glass itself. Moving it onto the S and Sport is what brings satellite radio, voice control and the extra pair of speakers to those trims. It also opens the door to Premium Speech with AI and Premium Radio, which Volkswagen lists as available rather than standard.
Volkswagen describes Premium Speech as incorporating ChatGPT. For 2027 it bundles Premium Speech, Premium Radio and Premium Navigation into one In Vehicle Premium connected services subscription. Volkswagen did not publish the terms of that subscription in this release, so treat those three as available features and ask us what applies to the car in front of you.
KESSY means the key stays in your pocket
KESSY is Volkswagen's keyless access system. You walk up with the fob in a pocket or a bag, touch the door handle, and the car unlocks. You press a button to start instead of turning a key. On the 2026 Jetta that convenience started at the SE trim. For 2027 it is on the S and the Sport.
That sounds small on paper. It stops sounding small the first time you reach a locked car with a toddler on one hip and a bag of groceries on the other.

National coverage of this announcement stops at the spec list. It cannot tell you whether the change is worth anything on the roads you actually drive. In Onslow County, two of these features earn their keep quickly.
Satellite radio and voice control pay off on the long runs. Eastern Onslow County moves on two four lane divided highways, US 17 and NC 24. Take NC 24 east through Swansboro toward Emerald Isle, or US 17 south toward Wilmington, and you are in the car long enough that what comes out of the speakers stops being trivia. Voice control also means you keep both hands on the wheel while you change it.
Keyless access pays off on the short ones. The daily grind here is not highway miles, it is stop and go on Western Blvd and up Piney Green Road, punctuated by a dozen short stops. Every one of those stops is a door lock and a door unlock. Touch to unlock and a start button take the key out of that loop entirely.
There is a third quiet benefit. Coastal Onslow County runs humid and salty most of the year, and a fob that never leaves your pocket is a fob you never fumble in the rain outside the Jacksonville Mall parking deck.

Volkswagen's release says select 2027 model year vehicles are expected to begin arriving in dealer showrooms in August, with others launching through early 2027. Volkswagen did not name the Jetta in that sentence, and it has not published an on sale date for the 2027 Jetta.
So no dealership in North Carolina can give you a Jetta arrival date today, including this one. Anything more precise than later in 2026 or early 2027 would be a guess dressed up as information, and a guess turns into a phone call our salespeople cannot answer.
